London is full of interesting, occasionally bizarre and talented exhibitions. The Rain Room exhibition by Random International is an arts collaborative at the Barbican Centre and has been spoken of as ‘an experience that one should not miss’. With that in mind we decided to go along and see what all the fuss was about.

After queuing for what seemed like a life time, we were finally in the 100 square metre, Rain Room. The space feels like you are in the middle of rain storm. The air is damp and it is in total darkness, except for large bright light. This light shines from the back of the room so the spectators are able to see the water droplets as they cascade from the ceiling.

The reason for this exhibition is for the spectators to have the chance to feel what it would be like to be able to control the rain.

Before you slowly and apprehensively step into the wall of cascading water, you are told that there are sensors on the ceiling which will be triggered by your movements, allowing you to freely walk through and around the space without getting wet.

Slowly pointing my toe and stepping into the rain, I was worried I was going to get completely soaked, by the time I managed to get to the other side. However, I did indeed manage to ‘control’ the rain in the rain room and didn’t even get dripped on.

Some people were slightly more adventurous than myself and started to lunge, spin and even dance inside the rain room.  It is a bizarre feeling knowing that you are about to step into essentially a wall of water and not get wet. This exhibition is a sensory experience of unnatural control that should be tried and tested at first hand.

Temperly London AW13

We have been eagerly awaiting Temperly London’s AW13 collection explores a darker mood for the British label, with structured silhouettes and use of heavier fabrics.

Gold embellishment and soft sumptuous silks convey the Temperly essence of femininity and grace.

Casual trouser and jacket combo with rich navy undertones ooze effortless style.

Black leather accessories give the collection a tougher edge.

Depicting the blue tones in Temperly’s colour palette, Modalu’s AW13 peacock colour way would be the ultimate accessory to ignite the Temperly wardrobe. Erdem AW13 Collection

Erdem’s usual lace, light, playful and very feminine colour palettes have taken a demure darker turn for his AW13 collection, with colour pops of acid lime, purples and hot pinks highlighting the collection.

Feminine silhouettes are a classic concept for Erdem’s style. Nipped in waists along with pencil skirts emulate the sexier side to the female shape. Floral appliqué textures show how a dark block colour such as black can still be incredibly feminine and soft.

Erdem’s use of such a heavy and dark colour palette has allowed for exploration within the use of combining fabrics to create an essence of femininity with feathers and sheer fabrics.

The Victoriana style of elaborate collars and detailed embroidery is seen within the Erdem AW13 collection.

The Victorian era is also an inspiration for Modalu’s AW13 collection, where opulence reins and rich textures are essential in portraying the collection.  To compliment the Erdem AW13 wardrobe Modalu would use the iconic Pippa triple compartment shape in its new digital floral print. The dark black undertone is highlighted with a digital floral print, by print designer, Charlotte Allen.

Modalu’s Spring Summer 2013 collection explores the fashion and hues associated with the equestrian events that are adored by the British socialite.

The new satchel shape for the 'Pippa' collection embraces the smooth lines found in saddlery. A two tone mix of deep patent burgundy and soft natural leather develops the collection. The 'Pippa' grab is refreshed by looking into fine detailing of the equestrian season. Hole punched trims represent stirrup straps and create deeper structure.

Inspired by the care-free romance of the British summer, rich and natural levels of colours are used for our transitional season, and are later combined with soft pastels as we transcend into the summer months.

The journalists were in awe of Modalu's equestrian theme with a touch of British summer romance within the SS13 collection. Tasty treats of London's finest Laduree macaroons added to the allure of the summer romance and the new pastel 'Pippa' colours for Spring.

We were joined by a number of artisits including actress Tolula Adeymi. Tolula fell in love with Modalu's 'Kristen' grab bag. This grab bag has quilted suede paneling and charming shell motif lock and will also come in coral. Throughout fashion week Tolula & Modalu's 'Kristen' grab bag were spotted FROW at Ashish sitting next to Kate Nash.

Editors, Stars, Models, Fashionistas and Designers flooded the streets and the stores of London in their finest frocks. By 6.30pm the party was in full swing with live music especially at Hermes, where the Swinging Silk 50's themed dancers and band entertained the crowds outside the store. The AW12 Swinging Silk scarf collection was being showcased in an enjoyable way. With the help of stylists, the general public received the opportunity to be dressed head to toe in the beautiful array of fine silk and photographs taken of their outfits by an Hermes photographer. The goodie bag included a set of Hermes transferable tattoo’s all 50's themed and a box of cards to show a number of different ways to tie the scarf’s.

This playful but elegant brand was proud to adorn the intricate and glamorous Victoria’s Angles lingerie. It was a spectacular scene of beauty and seduction. If that’s not enough, they also offered cupcakes and Macaroons to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Alexander McQueen

McQueen sent an email to their subscribers letting them know that on this wonderous of fashion celebrations, the McQueen store would allow each fan to pick a red note from their McQueen tree to win some fabulous gifts! This explained the largest que for a store we have EVER seen!

The Modalu team won 10% discount at McQueen, unfortunately it wasn't the handbag and shoes we were so longing for! However, the experience was so exciting and we are looking forward to the thrills of next year's events already!

Team GB’s Kristina Cook riding Miners Frolic seen in the picture below, took strongly to the course, but couldn’t beat the execution, poise and time of Germany’s Michael Jung riding Sam who gained Gold and Sweden’s Sara Algotsson Ostholt riding Wega who finished in second place earning themselves the Silver medal.

The team jumping final, showed Team GB at their Equestrian best. An astounding final saw Nick Skelton, Ben Maher, Peter Charles and Scott Brash exquisitely jumping earning the Equestrian Team GB their first Gold medal in 60 years! An incredibly proud moment was shared by the Modalu team when the GB team took to the podium to receive their medals.
